This safari will give you an unforgettable journey as you search for the Big 5 as well as trek in the jungle for both mountain gorillas and chimps. Uganda is unique in the way that you can see both the Big 5 and Mountain Gorillas here.
Four of the Big 5 roam freely in National Parks in Uganda, this is the lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant that you will have chance to see in Murchison Falls NP and Queen Elizabeth NP. The fifth one will be at full disposal in Ziwa Rhinos sanctuary reintroduced after serious poaching in the 80s.
A Uganda safari will start with a transfer from the Airport to your preferred lodge for an overnight and dinner. Early morning after breakfast, you will continue to Ziwa Rhinos Sanctuary for the rhino tracking. Here you will pay $50 at the entrance which will help you get the opportunity to see these creatures. You will then take lunch here and then transfer to Murchison falls national park.
You will start with a visit to the top of the falls giving you the opportunity to witness a deep flow of the water fall. It is a beautiful hike that takes you to see the falls close up as an explosive dash of water at close range gushes through a narrow crevice before the Nile continues its journey towards the Mediterranean.
At the game drive, you have the chance of seeing big cats hunting, Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, plus more as the checklist of mammals reaches 76. You will continue browsing the Drive circuits to the Delta point for a cocktail of Birds and mammals.
Enjoy lunch and some relaxation at the lodge after the game-drive. Then in the afternoon go for the boat ride to the base of the falls where you get to see the Hippos. You will see more hippos yawning, grooming in the Pods, Nile Crocodiles, Elephants and a variety of beautiful bird species along the banks. If you are a keen birder this might be your magnet to catch them.
Transfer towards the Kibale Forest. It’s a long drive with our target to have lunch in Fort portal. A punctuation of stopovers at sceneries like the Rift valley escarpment on Lake Albert typical African village setup in the far countryside and tea plantations along the drive offers you chances of stretching.
Its a chimpanzee day, you have the chance to see the chimps close up and capture shots of our closet cousins in the jungle in their frenzy exciting moods as they are grooming, building relationships, bringing up young ones, think and sharing food, plus rare bird species following them. In the forest 9 different species of Monkeys are found so you have chances of seeing red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies on a great day.
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park checking in direct to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Early morning take breakfast then embark on a game drive in this savannah park. You will get the chance to check out all the big four with in the park. In the afternoon, take a Classic highlight of the 2hrs boat-cruise on the famous Kazinga channel, a 36kms channel linking Lake George to lake Edward.
On the banks you can see land and water Adapted Hippopotamuses Yawning, the National Geographical society Killing machine the Nile Crocodile gaping along the Banks and Savannah versions of Pigs the Warthog- Pumba of the award-winning Lion King are a hallmark sign in this Animal home! Back to lodge for dinner and overnight.
Morning breakfast then set off for the journey towards Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth NP. This is an adventurous journey as the road goes through the park and if you are lucky, you see elephants, monkeys, beautiful birds or even lions along the way. After lunch at the lodge and some relaxation, head out for an afternoon game-drive in Ishasha, known for its tree-climbing lions. Here you have chance to see Topis, buffaloes, elephants and hopefully find the lions high in the Fig tree branches. This is one of two areas in Africa where lions have the habit of regularly climbing trees to take a rest. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Take a game drive as you head out for Bwindi national park give another chance to see climbing lions as well as other wildlife. It is a beautiful drive taking you from the savanna via cultivated hills to the jungle covered mountains of Bwindi. Check in to the luxurious lodge and enjoy a relaxed evening.
Its a gorilla trekking day. You will be taken in a group of eight people by game rangers into the jungle for your gorilla trekking adventure. Trek through the beautiful nature and spend one hour with the gorillas, an unforgettable experience. This Impenetrable Forest is also full of birds, butterflies and plant species plus forest hog, forest elephants, sitatungas and dikers. After the trek your guide picks you and takes you back to the lodge.
After breakfast leave the mountains behind and continue driving through the hilly areas with Lake Mburo national park as the target to view of zebras, topis, warthogs, leopard, cape buffaloes and impalas.
You will transfer to Entebbe for your flight back home making a stop by the Equator, where you can have the experience of standing with one foot on either side of the southern and northern hemisphere.
